Venetian Tapestry
Description of works
Sharyn Seibert's beautiful handmade jewelery evokes memories of stained glass windows and Byzantine mosaics.
On her frequent travels to Italy and France she receives inspiration from the rich colours, textures and shimmering light of the sparking glass in Notre Dame Cathedral, the mosaics in St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, and the multi-coloured sparkle of the centuries-old mosaics in Ravenna Italy.
She combines these opulent colours and textures into exquisite botanical imagery such as blossoms, tiny leaves and intertwining flowers.
The mirror-like iridescent beads she uses reflect the subtle shades of any outfit, creating a dynamic fashion statement. Finished works can be purchased or commissioned for weddings, day wear or high couture.

Art Journals in Italy
Today I decided to run an art journal workshop for women. It will combine art, music and food for two weeks. Barga, Italy will be the destination although we will spend time in Florence. My husband and I were going to offer an art and wine expedition to Florence in September but after discussing it with him, I think it makes sense to offer an all-women trip since most of the people who have been asking about it are women. Now the problem is, I need someone to act as co-instructor and backup person. I have somehow been connected with art for my whole life, either as a teacher or full-time artist so this is a natural offshoot of everything I've done so far. It will be exciting to plan this trip with someone. My job now is to decide whom to ask. It has to be someone who is free in either May or September, is enthusiastic and creative. They need to have skills in art, accounting and are intrepid travelers. I'm sure they will appear now that I've made the decision.
